Overview
This guide walks you through how to generate a new phone number in backstage Tracker, how to name that phone number, and how to ensure that reporting for that phone number will be accurate.
Creating The Phone Number In backstage Tracker
Creating the phone number is easy. First, log into backstage Tracker. Go to the "Settings" on your location dashboard.
Next, click on "Phone Numbers", then click on the green "+ Add Number" button.
A pop-up will appear where you can search for a phone number with the area code that you want to use.
Once you have found the number you want to use, fill out the details of the phone number you want to use. Those details include:
- Number Name (you will generate the number name in the next step, you can leave this blank for now).
- Forward Calls To - put the phone number this tracking number will forward to. The majority of the time, this should be the Land Line number for your location.
- Pass called number as caller id - By default the system passes the number of the caller through but if you want the caller id to instead be the number dialed by the caller enable this feature
- Pass verified number as caller id - This feature requires that the receiver press a key in order to connect the call, this will result in higher accuracy for call reporting. Click here for more info
- Whisper Message - this is the message you will hear when answering the call, before you are connected to the caller.
- Call Recording - this is the message the caller will here before they are connected to you.
- Incoming Call Timeout - this is the amount of time incoming callers will hear the phone ring-through before being connected to voicemail.
- Outbound Call Timeout - this is the amount of time outgoing callers will hear the phone ring-through before the call will end.
Generating The Phone Number Name
You will use backstage Hub to build the number name. To do this, fill out the "Add Location Phone Number" form by clicking here.
Update The Phone Number In backstage Tracker
Once you have generated the Phone Number Name, go back to backstage Tracker and update the name of the phone number.
