5 Reasons to Own a Spa Franchise
5 Reasons to Own a Spa Franchise
For the right person, opening a medical spa franchise can be just what the doctor ordered.
In fact, doctors are ideal spa franchise owners, though you don’t have to have a medical background to open a medical spa (That said, you’d better have the right people in place to run the spa who do, obviously.
So, if you’re somebody who has ever thought of opening a medical spa franchise and wondered if it was an idea you should consider, we’ll offer some reasons why we think it’s worth looking into.
Reasons to Open a Spa Franchise
This is a medical business – without insurance.
No offense meant to anyone reading this who works in insurance, but if you do work in the insurance industry, you don’t make life easy for doctors or patients. Yes, you pay for a lot of healthcare for people (and thanks for that), but the red tape and paperwork and delayed payments, and the not paying for everything on the bill and the general confusion that seems to be attached to every medical procedure… well, patients may think insurance isn’t fun to deal with, but doctors don’t find it a picnic either.
So, if you’re a physician, and you like your practice, but you’ve ever thought of leaving it – or you’ve wanted a business on the side – a medical spa franchise is a way of helping people look and feel better about themselves without having to deal with the insurance industry. We can imagine a few of you are reading this right now and saying, “I don’t need to read any more. Who can I call to discuss this further?”
And if you aren’t in the medical field, but you are interested in buying a medical spa franchise, well, again, we have to think that’s a selling point.
You can have regular business hours.
If you are a doctor, chances are, you’re sometimes on call, and you might have to work Saturday mornings or evenings, if you feel that 9 to 5 doesn’t cut it for your parents. And if you work at a hospital, you may work at night and weekends. Go figure, but when people get sick or delivery a baby, they don’t always get sick at 3 p.m. on a Tuesday. They’ll pick awfully inconvenient times, like 3 a.m., on a Saturday.
But when you own a medical spa franchise, you can keep regular business hours. In fact, many of our franchises are open from 9 to 5 or maybe until 5:30 or 6 p.m. You can stay open later, but your patients aren’t going to expect that. This isn’t a restaurant, where you have to be open to the public evenings and weekends. You can have a life when you own a BHRC.
Lowered malpractice insurance costs.
We don’t want to oversell this. It isn’t as if you won’t be insured, and plenty of things can go wrong with a medical spa that isn’t run well. But if you’re a surgeon, or a doctor, who deals with a lot of urgent, life and death cases on a daily basis, you’ll likely find your malpractice insurance bill almost fun to pay, in comparison to whatever you may be paying for a medical practice.
More time with your patients or customers.
Everything from insurance to piles of paperwork on your desk may make you feel like you can’t spend much time with your patients. If you’re a doctor running a general practice, you may see four, or even cram in six, patients in an hour. With a BHRC, physicians tend to spend 30 to 60 minutes per visit with a patient.
It’s a feel-good business.
For your patients – and you. If you’re a doctor, you’re often delivering not-so great news (“You need to lose weight,” “You need to do something about that high blood pressure”), or really terrible news that may or may not have a happy ending. But with a medical day spa, you’re making people look better and feel better, which often translates into adopting a healthier lifestyle.
We’re not saying that you’ll never have any stress – there probably are no stress-free businesses – but this is a vocation in which you’re removing wrinkles and fat and improving people’s skin tone. You’re going to meet a lot of people who will come into your office full of hope and will leave, extremely happy.
And happiness is contagious. So, really, in the end, you aren’t only helping people with their own health – you’re helping your own, too. If you’re interested in learning more, click here to see how you, too, can take advantage of the rapidly growing medical spa industry.
