About Dysport
Dysport is an injectable that is derived from the same neurotoxin as Botox. This product is specifically formulated to target glabellar lines between the brows, which are sometimes called frown lines. These signs of aging usually grow deeper over time and are challenging to correct with traditional anti-aging treatments. With Dysport, you could see these lines diminish or even disappear. A typical appointment takes just 15-25 minutes and involves several easy, pain-free injections in the brow region. There is no downtime required during recovery, and your results will usually last up to 5 months!

Dysport FAQ’s
What's the difference between Dysport and Botox?
Dysport is a neurotoxin with the quickest "onset" of action, typically requiring 24-72 hours for all results to be realized. Dysport contains smaller molecules than Botox, which is why the results are generally faster (Botox can take up to 2 weeks for results). In some areas, this is beneficial due to diffusion, but in others, it isn't.
Does Botox or Dysport last longer?
Some patients have reported that Dysport lasts longer than Botox, and there are some scientific reasons behind this. It appears that the antibodies in our bodies do not affect Dysport as much since it has a lower protein load than Botox. This means we can expect to see less of an effect on its results!
What is stronger Botox or Dysport?
Botox might not be stronger than Dysport, but it is more potent. You need three times the amount of Dysport to have an equal effect as Botox, so you will need more units. However, Dysport is typically much cheaper per unit, so you will spend the same amount of money for a similar outcome.
Can Dysport lift your eyebrows?
Dysport is a simple and effective way to have a non-surgical brow lift. A Dysport brow lift will remove forehead lines, raise sagging eyebrows and reduce the appearance of upper eyelid hooding. The procedure itself takes just 10 minutes with minimal downtime or risks involved for those interested in looking younger without having surgery done on their face.
Who should not use Dysport®?
Do not have Dysport treatment if you: are allergic to Dysport or any of its ingredients (see the end of the Medication Guide for a list of ingredients), are allergic to cow’s milk protein, had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product, such as Myobloc®, Botox®, or Xeomin®, have a skin infection at the planned injection site, under 18 years of age, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What should I tell my doctor before injections with Dysport®
Tell your doctor about any swallowing or breathing difficulties and all your muscle or nerve conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis [ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease], myasthenia gravis, or Lambert‐Eaton syndrome, which may increase the risk of serious side effects including difficulty swallowing and difficulty breathing. Serious allergic reactions have occurred with the use of Dysport. Dry eye has also been reported.
Tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including if you have surgical changes to your face, very weak muscles in the treatment area, any abnormal facial change, injection site inflammation, droopy eyelids or sagging eyelid folds, deep facial scars, thick oily skin, wrinkles that can’t be smoothed by spreading them apart, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant or breastfeed.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins and herbal and other natural products. Using Dysport with certain other medicines may cause serious side effects. Do not start any new medicines while taking Dysport without talking to your doctor first.
Especially tell your doctor if you: have received any other botulinum toxin product, such as Myobloc® (rimabotulinumtoxinB), Botox® (onabotulinumtoxinA), or Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA), in the last four months or any in the past (be sure your doctor knows exactly which product you received, have recently received an antibiotic by injection, take muscle relaxants, take an allergy or cold medicine, or take a sleep medicine.

What should I do before my Dysport treatment?
To help prevent the risk of excessive bruising following Botox injections, please avoid the following at least 3-5 days before treatment; Avoid NSAIDs, blood thinning vitamins, and alcohol can prevent hematomas or contusions as well as speed healing time. However, if you are taking anticoagulant therapy prescribed by your MD for any medical conditions, please continue. FYI- Many medications and vitamins are considered blood thinning.
What should I do after my Dysport treatment?
After you receive your Botox treatment, these guidelines may help you recover quickly:
- Bruising: This may last a couple of days to weeks. Arnika Forte contains bromelain, which helps decrease the duration of bruising time and severity.
- Do not lie down for 3-4 hours following treatment.
- Keep your head in a neutral position for the rest of the day without bending the head forward or down. By following these precautionary measures, you will minimize the occurrence of ptosis (droopy eyelids) and less than optimal outcomes.
- Facial exercises (squint/frown/smile) are recommended in the treated area for one hour after injection.
- Avoid manipulation of the treated area for the rest of the day, such as using a Clarisonic brush, scrubbing, rubbing, or pressing the treated areas.
- No exercise for 24-48 hours following treatment. Anything that causes heat or increases blood pressure will likely metabolize the product faster: i.e., hot yoga, pilates, saunas, steam rooms, infrared sauna, high impact exercise, hyperhidrosis, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, stress, etc.
