PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a popular treatment that uses the patient’s own blood to promote skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, and overall skin rejuvenation. It involves drawing a small amount of blood, processing it to separate concentrated platelets and growth factors, and then injecting it or applying it to targeted areas. PRP contains growth factors that help to stimulate collagen production, improve blood flow, and boost tissue repair for a rejuvenated appearance.

PRP vs. Other Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

PRP vs. Microneedling

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and microneedling are both popular aesthetic treatments that can improve skin health and appearance, but they differ in their methods, mechanisms, and benefits.  PRP is a regenerative therapy that uses the power of concentrated blood platelets and growth factors to stimulate collagen production and promote healing. Microneedling stimulates collagen production through the creation of micro-injuries in the skin. Overall, PRP is ideal for advanced skin repair and hair restoration, while microneedling is great for general skin rejuvenation. It is also important to note that PRP and microneedling treatments are often combined to enhance results further.

PRP vs. Morpheus8

PRP and Morpheus8 differ in their techniques and uses. As stated, PRP uses growth factors to rejuvenate the skin. Similar to microneedling, Morpheus8 combines radiofrequency (RF) energy with microneedling to target deeper layers of tissue for more advanced collagen remodeling. PRP can also be combined with Morepheus8 treatments for dramatic results.

Target Your Concerns with PRP

PRP therapy addresses several aesthetic and medical concerns by stimulating the body’s natural healing and regenerative processes. The main concerns that PRP is used to treat include:

Skin Aging

PRP can target an array of common skin aging concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, loss of elasticity and firmness, and uneven skin tone and texture.

Hair Loss

Both males and females can suffer from hair thinning hair and hair shedding. This treatment can naturally help to restore and strengthen hair for a boost in confidence.

Dark Under-Eye Circles

Age and lifestyle factors can lead to hollowness or volume loss beneath the eyes. This treatment can help to restore a more vibrant appearance.

Scars and Acne Scars

PRP is ideal for treating depressed or pitted acne scars and scars from injury or surgery for a smoother skin appearance.

Stretch Marks

PRP can improve the appearance of stretch marks by boosting collagen production and tissue repair.

What PRP Actually Does

The PRP treatment is a multi-step experience. To begin, a small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm in a similar way to a routine blood test. This blood will be placed in a special machine called a centrifuge, which spins to separate the PRP from other blood components. The PRP is then extracted and prepared for application or injection.

The application of the PRP will depend on your treatment type. For facial rejuvenation, PRP can be applied topically after microneedling or injected into specific areas of the face. For hair loss, it can injected into the scalp in areas of thinning hair. To treat scars and stretch marks, PRP is injected or applied following microneedling to the targeted areas.

Benefits of PRP

The main benefits of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, particularly in aesthetic applications, stem from its ability to stimulate the body’s natural healing and regenerative processes. Here’s a breakdown of its key benefits:

  • Skin Rejuvenation through collagen production
  • Improvement of fine lines and signs of aging
  • Natural and safe
  • Effective for hair restoration
  • Long-lasting results
  • Highly customizable

PRP FAQs at Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center

  • What is PRP therapy?

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is an innovative and non-surgical treatment that uses your blood to rejuvenate the skin, repair cells, and fight hair loss. It’s been used in medical settings for decades, but now it’s available at our office. The procedure takes just minutes and can be done on any area of the face or body.

  • What is Microneedling with PRP?

We use Eclipse microneedling technology combined with a PRP facial to remove blemishing, increase volume, and accelerate procedural recovery times. We can even remove acne scars and many common signs of aging.

  • How does PRP therapy work?

PRP Therapy uses your body’s healing system to create an environment that helps collagen growth and cell regeneration. Platelets can heal wounds, including those that are deeper than just skin-deep. They contain over 30 bioactive proteins, are ready for use on human body tissue, and secrete seven protein growth factors that trigger the wound healing process. PRP includes three types of proteins that allow cells to adhere, which means it is a critical part of any cell’s DNA sequence!

  • How much does PRP therapy cost?

A typical price range is between $500 and $2,000+, which is determined by the type of PRP therapy you receive and the area in which you get the treatment. Contact us today if you want more information on the effectiveness of this treatment!

  • How long does PRP therapy last?

Many people wonder how long PRP injections last. Studies have suggested that PRP injections can be effective for 6-12 months. Some of the top factors that weigh in when determining how long PRP injections last include:

    • How severe is the condition you are treating with a PRP injection?
    • Your health
    • How your body initially responds to PRP treatment
  • How many sessions of PRP are needed?

Doctors suggest that to enhance the success rate of the PRP treatment, patients should undergo about three distinctive sessions, each positioned every six months. After this, patients should undergo a single effective therapy every 6-12 months to sustain the therapy effects for extended periods.

  • Who should not get PRP therapy?

While PRP Therapy is very safe, if you have a history of blood diseases, including clotting or bleeding disorders, it’s best to consult your physician before speaking with one of our specialists about receiving a PRP facial.

  • What should I tell my doctor before getting PRP therapy?

Before getting PRP Therapy, you should consult with your doctor and let them know if you have had cancer that has been in remission for less than five years, if you have any blood conditions such as anemia, HIV, or hepatitis; if you have had any recent infections, and disclose any neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s Disease or ALS. Utilizing this information, your doctor will let you know if PRP Therapy is the right fit for you.

  • What should I do before my PRP therapy treatment?

Before your PRP Therapy treatment, one of our specialists will discuss what to expect during your treatment. However, you should know that there are a few things to consider following before your session:

    • At least three to four days before your procedure, discontinue anti-inflammatory medications.
    • One to two weeks before your procedure, discontinue any blood-thinning herbs, supplements, or vitamins.
    • One to two weeks before your procedure, discontinue systematic steroids.
    • Discontinue steroid injections at least one month before your procedure.
    • On the day of your procedure, eat a healthy breakfast and drink plenty of water.
    • Please be advised that a discontinuation plan must be discussed with your primary care provider if you take chronic oral steroids, as abrupt stoppage may cause side effects. Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center does not advise stopping or taking any medication regimens without consulting the doctor who prescribed them.
  • What should I do after my PRP therapy treatment?

After your PRP Facial session, we recommend getting as much rest as possible. After your session, you may experience some mild to moderate redness, swelling, pain, or discomfort in the areas you had treated. This is normal and a sign that your body is healing as it adjusts to the injections. It is best to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water to help promote healing.
