Primary areas such as lips and folds start at $700 a syringe; structural work in the cheeks, chin and jawline starts at $900. Most people start with one to two syringes.

    In short

Juvederm is a range of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers made by Allergan, each formulated for a different job. Voluma is firm and built for cheek and chin structure, Volbella is soft and built for lips and under-eyes, Vollure sits between them for folds, Volux is the firmest for jawline definition, and Ultra is the versatile mid-range option. At BHRC it starts at $700 a syringe for primary areas and $900 for advanced areas, and results last roughly 6 to 24 months depending on the product.

Five products, and picking wrong is the usual mistake

People book Juvederm the way they book a brand, but Juvederm is a family of five formulations with genuinely different physical properties, and the difference matters more than the brand does. Voluma and Volux are firm, designed to sit deep against bone and hold structure. Volbella is soft and thin, designed for lips and fine lines. Put a firm product in a soft area and it looks and feels wrong; put a soft product where structure is needed and it does nothing at all. The consultation is mostly about which of the five, and how much, rather than about whether to have filler.

Under-eyes deserve a note: it is the least forgiving area on the face and the wrong product or depth there causes lasting puffiness. We treat it conservatively and sometimes decline it. See the under-eye page for the full picture.

    How it works

    How Juvederm Works

Hyaluronic acid, cross-linked to different densities.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule your body already produces, and one of its properties is that it binds water. That is what creates volume when it is placed under the skin.

Each Juvederm product is cross-linked to a different density using Allergan's VYCROSS and HYLACROSS technologies. Denser cross-linking means a firmer gel that holds structure and lasts longer; lighter cross-linking means a softer gel that moves naturally. That single variable is what separates Volux from Volbella.

The product is injected at a depth chosen for the job: deep against bone for structure, superficially for fine lines. Most Juvederm contains lidocaine, so the injection itself is reasonably comfortable.

It breaks down gradually over 6 to 24 months. Because it is hyaluronic acid, it can also be dissolved on demand with hyaluronidase, which is the single most important safety feature of this whole category.

    The Juvederm range, compared

Firmness is the variable that matters.

    Voluma

Starts working: Firm. Lasts: Up to 24 months. Built for deep structural placement in cheeks, chin and temples, from $900. The longest-lasting Juvederm. Wrong choice for lips.

    Volux

Starts working: Firmest. Lasts: Up to 24 months. Made specifically for jawline definition, from $900. The firmest gel in the range and used nowhere soft.

    Vollure

Starts working: Medium. Lasts: Up to 18 months. Flexible enough to move with expression, which is what nasolabial folds and marionette lines need. From $700.

    Volbella

Starts working: Softest. Lasts: Up to 12 months. Thin and soft, for lips, fine lip lines and cautious under-eye work. From $700. Will not hold structure anywhere.

    Ultra and Ultra Plus

Starts working: Medium. Lasts: Up to 12 months. The original formulations and still the most versatile, from $700. Ultra Plus is the thicker version for deeper placement.

What Juvederm Can Do For You

And the one property that makes it safer than the alternatives.

A BHRC injector administering Juvederm filler
    Rebuild cheek structure

Voluma placed deep against bone restores the support that lifts the whole mid-face.

    Define a jawline

Volux is made for exactly this and nothing else in the range does it as well.

    Enhance lips naturally

Volbella and Ultra, in small amounts. The goal is your lips, better hydrated and slightly fuller.

    Soften folds

Vollure moves with your face rather than sitting rigidly in a fold.

    Work immediately

Unlike biostimulators, the result is visible the same day, once swelling settles.

Be dissolved if you hate it

This is the big one. Hyaluronic acid is reversible with hyaluronidase, so a result you dislike is not permanent. Sculptra and Radiesse are not reversible.

    ⚠️ Not fix skin laxity

Filler adds volume. If the real problem is loose skin, adding volume makes the face heavier rather than younger, and we will say so.

    Aftercare

    After Juvederm

Most of the first week is swelling, not result.

A BHRC provider reviewing filler results with a patient
    First 24 hours

Swelling and tenderness, most noticeable in lips. Ice gently, sleep with your head raised.

    Days 1 to 7

Bruising is common, particularly around the mouth and under the eyes. It resolves.

    Avoid

Strenuous exercise, alcohol and heat for 24 to 48 hours, all of which increase swelling and bruising.

    Lips specifically

Expect them to look overdone for three to five days. Judging lip filler at day two is the most common source of panic and it is almost always swelling.

    Two weeks

The real result. This is when to assess and when to book a top-up if one is needed.

    Longevity

6 to 24 months depending on the product and the area. Areas that move a lot break filler down faster.

    If you dislike it

It can be dissolved. Tell us rather than waiting it out.

    Aftercare

What to use at home afterwards.

Your result lasts longer when what you use at home is doing the same work. This is the routine our providers start most patients on, dispensed through the practice. Not sure it is right for your skin? Take the skin quiz, or ask your provider to build one around the treatment you are having.

    Frequently asked

    Juvederm questions, answered

How much does Juvederm cost at BHRC?

From $700 a syringe for primary areas such as lips, nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and from $900 a syringe for advanced structural areas such as cheeks, chin, jawline and temples. Juvederm is priced by syringe and by area rather than by product name, because what you pay depends on how much is needed and where it goes. Most people start with one to two syringes.

What is the difference between Voluma, Volbella, Vollure, Volux and Ultra?

Firmness, and it is the whole story. Volux is the firmest and is made for jawline definition. Voluma is firm and sits deep against bone for cheeks, chin and temples, lasting up to 24 months. Vollure is mid-range and flexible enough to move with expression, which is what folds need. Volbella is the softest and thinnest, for lips and fine lines. Ultra and Ultra Plus are the original formulations and the most versatile.

Which Juvederm is best for lips?

Volbella or Ultra. Volbella is softer and better for subtle hydration and fine lip lines; Ultra gives a little more volume. What you should not have in your lips is Voluma or Volux, which are structural products meant to sit deep against bone and will feel firm and look wrong in soft tissue.

    How long does Juvederm last?

Between 6 and 24 months depending on the product and the area. Voluma in the cheeks lasts longest, up to 24 months, because it is densely cross-linked and the area moves relatively little. Lip filler breaks down fastest, often around 6 to 12 months, because lips are constantly moving.

    Can Juvederm be dissolved?

Yes, and this is the most important safety feature of the whole hyaluronic acid category. An enzyme called hyaluronidase breaks it down within a day or two, so a result you dislike is not something you have to live with. Sculptra and Radiesse are not reversible this way, which is a genuine point in Juvederm's favour if you are nervous.

Juvederm or Restylane, which is better?

Neither, universally. They use different cross-linking technologies, which gives them different handling characteristics, and experienced injectors tend to prefer particular products for particular areas rather than one brand throughout. We carry both, so the recommendation can be about the area rather than about what we happen to stock.

    Does it hurt?

Less than most people expect. Most Juvederm formulations contain lidocaine, and topical numbing is applied beforehand. Lips are the most sensitive area and are numbed more thoroughly for that reason.

Why do my lips look overdone two days later?

Because that is swelling, not the result. Lips swell more than any other area and the first three to five days are genuinely not representative. Judge the result at two weeks. This is the single most common source of post-treatment panic and it almost always resolves on its own.

We pick the product, not the brand

Five formulations with genuinely different densities. Matching the gel to the area is most of what separates a good result from an obvious one.

    Conservative by default

One to two syringes to start, assessed at two weeks. Filler is easy to add and irritating to dissolve.

Reversible, and we will reverse it

Hyaluronic acid dissolves with hyaluronidase. If you dislike the result, tell us. That option is a genuine advantage over biostimulators.

We will tell you when filler is the wrong answer

If the real issue is skin laxity, volume makes it worse. Tightening is the answer there and we carry three ways to do it.

    Every brand under one roof

Juvederm, Restylane, Sculptra, Radiesse and Skinvive, so the recommendation can be clinical rather than whatever we stock.
