A face ages in three separate ways, and they need three different treatments. Most people are sold the wrong one because they asked for the one they had heard of.

Neurotoxins are priced per unit and fillers per syringe, so what you spend depends on how much is actually needed rather than on a package price. A first neurotoxin treatment commonly runs 20 to 60 units across the upper face. Filler is usually one to two syringes to start. The consultation establishes which of the three causes is driving what you are seeing, and it is complimentary.

In short
A face ages in three ways at once. Movement creates lines in the skin, which neurotoxins address from $12 a unit. Fat and bone volume is lost, which fillers and biostimulators replace from $700 a syringe. And the skin itself loses collagen and elasticity, which resurfacing and tightening treat. Most people need some combination, and being treated for the wrong one is the most common reason results disappoint.
Look at a face that reads as older and you are usually seeing three things at once. There are lines etched by decades of expression, which relaxing the muscle softens. There is volume loss, as fat pads descend and bone recedes, which hollows the temples and cheeks and drops the jawline, and which no amount of neurotoxin will address. And there is the quality of the skin itself, thinner and less elastic with less collagen, which needs resurfacing or tightening rather than injecting. The reason results disappoint is almost always that someone was treated for the cause they had heard of rather than the one they have. Filler in a face whose real problem is skin laxity makes it heavier, not younger.
Units and cost
The table that decides where you should actually go next.
| Area | Typical units | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Forehead and frown lines | Neurotoxins | from $12/unit |
| Crow's feet | Neurotoxins | from $12/unit |
| Hollow temples and cheeks | Filler or Sculptra | from $700 |
| Nasolabial folds | Dermal filler | from $700 |
| Thin lips | Lip filler | from $700 |
| Under-eye hollows | Specialist filler | from $700 |
| Soft jawline, mild | Forma | from $450 |
| Soft jawline, significant | Ultherapy or Morpheus8 | from $700 |
| Crepey skin texture | Microneedling or laser | from $500 |

How it works
Three processes, running at once, on different timescales.
Muscle movement folds the skin. Every frown and squint creases it, and for decades it springs back. As collagen and elasticity decline it stops springing back fully, and the line stays when the face is at rest. Neurotoxins reduce the movement making the crease.
Volume is lost from underneath. The fat pads of the face thin and descend and the bone itself recedes, which hollows temples, flattens cheeks and lets the jawline soften. Fillers replace that volume directly, and biostimulators such as Sculptra prompt your own collagen to rebuild it over months.
The skin itself changes. Collagen production falls by roughly a percent a year from the mid-twenties, and sun exposure accelerates it. The result is thinner, less elastic, rougher skin with uneven tone, treated by resurfacing and tightening rather than by anything injected.
Because all three run at once, the right plan is usually a combination, sequenced. That sequencing is what a consultation is for.
Which product
This page diagnoses. The linked pages treat.

Starts working: None. Lasts: 3 to 5 days. Forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet. Neurotoxins from $12 a unit relax the muscle creating the crease. They will do nothing for hollowing or laxity, and used on the wrong problem they simply do not work.
Starts working: 1 to 7 days bruising. Lasts: Immediate or gradual. Hollow temples, flat cheeks, deepening folds and a softening jawline. Fillers from $700 replace volume immediately; Sculptra and Radiesse build your own collagen over months for a more gradual result.
Starts working: None to 7 days. Lasts: Weeks to months. Crepey texture, roughness, pigment and mild sagging. Treated by resurfacing and tightening. Forma from $450 for mild laxity with no downtime, Morpheus8 or Ultherapy for more.
Starts working: n/a. Lasts: n/a. Filling a face whose real problem is skin laxity. It adds weight without restoring structure and it is why some people look treated rather than younger. We will tell you when volume is not your issue.
Good to know
Sorted by which cause it addresses.

Forehead, frown lines and crow's feet, from $12 a unit. The fastest and most predictable change available.
Temples, cheeks and the jawline, from $700. Structure rather than plumpness.
Sculptra and Radiesse work over months, which makes them the subtler option when you do not want a visible change date.
Forma with no downtime, Morpheus8 and Ultherapy for more significant laxity.
Texture, tone and pigment, which is often what people actually mean when they say they look tired.
Structure before surface, and one thing at a time so you can see what worked.
The most valuable thing on this list. A face that needs tightening does not need filling, and we would rather say so.
Aftercare
The order matters more than most people expect.

Volume, then surface. Resurfacing a face that has hollowed does not address why it reads as older.
Combining everything in one visit means you cannot tell what worked. Stage it.
Every three to four months to maintain. Consistency also means less product over time as the muscle habit softens.
Six to eighteen months depending on the product and the area.
Sculptra and Radiesse last longer, and they build gradually rather than appearing.
In courses, then maintenance. Collagen decline is continuous, so maintenance is genuinely part of the plan.
The single highest-return thing you can do, and it is free. Most visible ageing is photoageing.

Frequently asked
All four are neuromodulators (botulinum toxin type A) that temporarily relax facial muscles to smooth wrinkles. Botox is the original and most well-known, with decades of proven safety. Dysport tends to spread more and works faster, making it ideal for larger areas. Xeomin is a “naked” formula without additives, reducing the chance of resistance. Jeuveau is the newest option, specifically designed for aesthetic use. Your provider will recommend the best option based on your goals and anatomy.
Neuromodulators like Botox typically last 3-4 months. Hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm, Restylane) last 6-18 months depending on the product and treatment area. Sculptra results can last up to 2 years as it stimulates your own collagen. Radiesse typically lasts 12-18 months. Your provider will discuss expected longevity during your consultation.
Most injectable treatments have minimal downtime—you may have slight redness or swelling that resolves within hours. Fillers may cause bruising that lasts a few days. Morpheus8 typically requires 2-5 days of social downtime with redness and mild swelling. Ultherapy has virtually no downtime. Chemical peels vary from no downtime (light peels) to 7-10 days (deeper peels). We’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions for your specific treatment.
Most patients describe injectable treatments as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. We use various comfort measures including topical numbing cream, ice, and many fillers contain lidocaine. Morpheus8 is performed with topical anesthesia. Ultherapy can cause temporary discomfort during treatment. Clear
Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to remodel collagen and fat in the deeper layers of skin. Tiny needles create micro-injuries while delivering RF energy up to 4mm deep. This triggers your body’s natural healing response, producing new collagen and tightening loose skin. It’s effective for jowls, nasolabial folds, neck laxity, and overall skin tightening. Results develop over 3-6 months as collagen rebuilds.
There’s no perfect age—it depends on your genetics, lifestyle, and concerns. Many patients start preventative Botox in their late 20s to early 30s to prevent lines from forming. Others begin fillers or skin tightening in their 40s-50s when volume loss becomes noticeable. The best approach is to address concerns as they arise rather than waiting until they’re severe. A consultation will help determine the right time and treatments for you.
Absolutely! Many patients achieve the best results by combining treatments. A common approach is using Botox for dynamic wrinkles (forehead, crow’s feet) while adding fillers for volume loss (cheeks, lips). Morpheus8 or Ultherapy can address overall skin laxity while Clear
Maintenance varies by treatment. Botox requires treatments every 3-4 months. Fillers need touch-ups every 6-18 months depending on the product. Skin tightening treatments like Morpheus8 may be repeated annually. We also recommend a good skincare routine, daily SPF, and healthy lifestyle habits to maximize and extend your results.
