Injectables
Volume, shape and definition, or just a subtle roll of the upper lip. Two very different treatments at two very different prices, placed by a licensed injector who will tell you which one you actually want.

Lip enhancement · Lip body
In short
Lip enhancement covers two different treatments. Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid gel to add volume, shape and definition, lasts 6 to 12 months and is priced per syringe. A lip flip uses a few units of neurotoxin to relax the muscle around the upper lip so it rolls slightly outward, adds no volume, lasts 2 to 3 months and costs far less.
A lot of people book filler when they wanted a flip, and a few book a flip expecting filler. Filler adds gel, so it adds volume, shape and projection, and it lasts most of a year. A flip adds nothing at all. It relaxes the muscle that tucks your upper lip under when you smile, so more of the lip you already have shows. If your lips are the size you want and they simply disappear when you smile, the $150 treatment is the right one and the $700 one is not.
Before and after
Real BHRC patients, photographed before treatment and after the filler has settled. One syringe unless noted.

Individual results may vary. Lip filler is a cosmetic procedure and results depend on your natural lip structure, the product used and the volume placed. Photos are of BHRC patients and are shown with consent.
Units and cost
The two options side by side.
| Area | Typical units | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Lip flip (neurotoxin) | 2 to 3 months | $150 per treatment |
| Lip filler, one syringe | 6 to 12 months | from $700 |
| Lip filler, second syringe | 6 to 12 months | from $700 |
| Lip flip plus filler | 6 to 12 months | from $850 combined |
| Nasolabial folds | 6 to 12 months | from $700 per syringe |
| Marionette lines | 6 to 12 months | from $700 per syringe |
| Dissolving filler | Same day | Priced at consultation |
Most first-time patients need one syringe. Building gradually across two appointments generally gives a better result than one large session, and it is easier to stop at the point you like.

How it works
What each treatment is physically doing, and why the results differ.
Filler is a hyaluronic acid gel placed in precise planes of the lip. Where it goes determines whether you get body, border definition or projection, which is why placement matters more than volume.
A lip flip places a few units of neurotoxin in the orbicularis oris, the ring of muscle around the mouth, relaxing its pull so the upper lip rolls slightly outward.
Hyaluronic acid attracts water, so filler swells for two to three days before settling. The lip you have at day one is not the lip you keep.
Which product
The honest version of a question people usually get sold on.

Starts working: 3 to 5 days. Lasts: 2 to 3 months. Relaxes the muscle so more of your existing lip shows. Adds no volume. Best when your lips vanish as you smile, or you want the smallest possible change.
Starts working: Immediate, settles in 2 weeks. Lasts: 6 to 12 months. Adds real volume and lets shape, border and symmetry be built deliberately. The right choice when there is genuinely not enough lip to work with.
Starts working: Immediate, flip in 3 to 5 days. Lasts: 6 to 12 months. Filler builds the body, the flip stops the upper lip tucking under. Common for a heavy upper-lip smile.
Starts working: n/a. Lasts: n/a. If you have had filler elsewhere within the last few months, the honest advice is often to wait and see where it settles before adding more.
Good to know
Including the parts people are usually worried about.

Hyaluronic acid gel placed in the body of the lip, built gradually rather than all at once.
Precise placement along the vermillion border sharpens a lip that has gone soft-edged.
Most lips are uneven. Filler is placed asymmetrically on purpose to correct for it.
Lips thin and lengthen over time. Restoring the body and shortening the visible upper lip reads as youth, not as filler.
The fine lines above the lip soften as the structure underneath is supported.
Migration is filler moving above the lip border, usually from over-filling or placement too superficially. It is avoided with conservative volumes and correct planes, and it is correctable: hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid filler, including work done somewhere else.
Hyaluronic acid filler is reversible. That is the single biggest advantage it has over anything permanent.
Aftercare
Lips swell more than anywhere else on the face. Plan for it.

Expect significant swelling, and possibly bruising. Ice gently, sleep with your head elevated, and do not judge the result.
Swelling peaks around day two then begins to drop. This is the stage people panic at, and it is normal.
For a lip flip, the effect appears now. For filler, swelling is resolving and the true shape emerges.
Filler has fully settled. This is the earliest sensible point to judge the result or plan a touch-up.
Strenuous exercise, alcohol and heat for 24 hours. Blood thinners and fish oil beforehand if your prescriber agrees, to limit bruising.
Book at least two weeks ahead. Never the same week.
Filler softens gradually rather than vanishing. Most patients top up at 6 to 12 months.
Aftercare
Your result lasts longer when what you use at home is doing the same work. This is the routine our providers start most patients on, dispensed through the practice. Not sure it is right for your skin? Take the skin quiz, or ask your provider to build one around the treatment you are having.

Frequently asked
Dermal fillers (like Juvederm and Restylane Kysse) add volume to your lips using hyaluronic acid gel. A Lip Flip uses Botox to relax the muscles around your upper lip, causing it to gently roll outward for a fuller appearance without adding volume. Fillers are ideal for those wanting more volume, while a Lip Flip is perfect for subtle enhancement or if your upper lip curls inward when you smile.
Lip filler results typically last 6-12 months, depending on the product used and your individual metabolism. Juvederm and Restylane Kysse are both excellent options that provide long-lasting results. The Lip Flip lasts approximately 2-3 months since Botox naturally wears off over time. Many clients schedule maintenance appointments to keep their results looking fresh.
We prioritize your comfort during treatment. A topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure, and most fillers contain lidocaine to minimize discomfort. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or a slight pinch. The Lip Flip involves just a few tiny injections and is very quick. Overall, most patients find the procedure much more comfortable than expected.
There’s minimal downtime with lip enhancement. You may experience swelling, tenderness, and possibly bruising for 2-3 days. Most clients return to normal activities immediately, though we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Swelling peaks at 24-48 hours and gradually subsides. Final results are visible within 1-2 weeks once all swelling resolves.
Yes! One of the advantages of hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane Kysse is that they can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. If you’re unhappy with your results or experience any complications, the filler can be safely dissolved. This provides peace of mind, especially for first-time clients.
For natural-looking results, most first-time clients start with 0.5 to 1 syringe of filler. Our providers take a conservative approach, enhancing your natural shape rather than over-filling. You can always add more at a follow-up appointment. We believe in subtle enhancement that looks like “you, but better” rather than an overdone appearance.
Before treatment: Avoid blood thinners, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and alcohol for at least 24 hours to reduce bruising risk. After treatment: Avoid touching or massaging your lips, intense exercise, extreme heat (saunas, hot yoga), and alcohol for 24-48 hours. Sleeping slightly elevated the first night can help reduce swelling.
Absolutely! Many clients love the combination of a Lip Flip with filler for the ultimate lip enhancement. The Lip Flip enhances the upper lip’s appearance by relaxing the muscles, while filler adds volume and shape to both lips. This combination provides beautiful, balanced results and is one of our most popular treatment combinations. Individual results may vary. What Megan does
If a $150 flip gets you what you are describing, we will not sell you a $700 syringe. Over-filled lips are the most common thing we are asked to correct.
We use hyaluronic acid fillers, which dissolve. Including, if it comes to it, work done somewhere else.
Adding gradually gives a better result than one large session, and it lets you stop at the point you like rather than past it.
Every injection is placed by a nurse practitioner, registered nurse or physician assistant.
We will move your appointment rather than let you turn up to a wedding swollen.
Standardised training and the same protocols in every location.
