The softer XpresHAn gels used in lips and around the mouth start at $700 a syringe; the firmer NASHA gels used for cheek structure, contour and hands start at $900. Hands are the one people forget to ask about and usually need two syringes.

    Restylane · Lips

    In short

Restylane is a family of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers made by Galderma, built on two different gel technologies. The classic NASHA range, including Lyft, is firmer and holds shape for structural work. The XpresHAn range, including Kysse, Defyne and Refyne, is softer and designed to move naturally with expression. At BHRC it starts at $700 a syringe for primary areas and $900 for advanced areas, lasting roughly 6 to 18 months.

Two gels, and the difference is movement

Restylane is not one product but two families built on different technologies, and the split is genuinely useful rather than marketing. The classic NASHA gels, of which Lyft is the best known, are firmer and hold their shape, which is what you want when you are rebuilding cheek structure that should stay put. The XpresHAn gels, Kysse, Defyne and Refyne, are softer and stretch, which is what you want in lips and around the mouth where the tissue moves constantly and a rigid product looks and feels wrong. If you have ever seen lip filler that looks fine at rest and strange when someone smiles, that is a gel-choice problem, and it is the problem this range was designed around.

    How it works

    How Restylane Works

Hyaluronic acid, cross-linked two different ways.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule your body already makes, and it binds water. That is what creates volume when it is placed under the skin.

NASHA technology cross-links the gel into firmer particles that resist deformation. That is why Lyft holds cheek projection and why it is the right choice where you want the shape to stay exactly where it was put.

XpresHAn technology produces a softer, more stretchable gel that deforms with the tissue and springs back. That is why Kysse moves with a smile instead of resisting it.

Both break down gradually over 6 to 18 months and both are hyaluronic acid, so both can be dissolved on demand with hyaluronidase if you dislike the result.

    Kysse

Starts working: Flexible. Lasts: Up to 12 months. The lip product, from $700. XpresHAn gel so lips still move naturally, and the single strongest reason people ask for Restylane over Juvederm.

    Lyft

Starts working: Firm. Lasts: Up to 18 months. Classic NASHA gel from $900, for cheeks, mid-face structure and the backs of the hands. Holds shape. Wrong choice for lips.

    Defyne

Starts working: Flexible, firmer. Lasts: Up to 12 months. From $700, for deeper laugh lines and chin definition where support and movement are both needed.

    Refyne and Silk

Starts working: Softest. Lasts: Up to 12 months. From $700, for finer lines around the mouth. Silk is the fine-line and lip-line specialist.

    Contour

Starts working: Firm, natural on movement. Lasts: Up to 12 months. From $900, designed for cheek contour specifically: enough structure to define without looking rigid when you smile.

What Restylane Can Do For You

And the reversibility that makes it low-risk.

A BHRC injector administering Restylane filler
    Natural-looking lips

Kysse is built to move with a smile rather than resist it. This is where the range genuinely stands out.

    Rebuild cheek structure

Lyft and Contour, placed deep for support that holds.

    Soften folds that still move

Defyne and Refyne stretch with expression instead of sitting rigidly in a crease.

    Rejuvenate hands

One of the few fillers specifically indicated for the backs of the hands, and an area most people forget.

    Work immediately

The result is visible the same day, once swelling settles.

Be dissolved if you hate it

Hyaluronic acid is reversible with hyaluronidase. A result you dislike is not permanent, unlike Sculptra or Radiesse.

    ⚠️ Not fix skin laxity

Filler adds volume. If the real problem is loose skin, volume makes the face heavier rather than younger.

    Aftercare

    After Restylane

Recovery differs by which gel you had, which is worth knowing in advance.

A BHRC provider reviewing filler results with a patient
    After a NASHA gel

Lyft and Contour are firm, and for the first week they can feel more present than they look. That settles as the gel integrates. Do not judge cheek projection at day three.

    After an XpresHAn gel

Kysse, Defyne and Refyne are softer and integrate faster, so they generally feel like your own tissue within a few days.

    Lips, and Kysse specifically

Lips swell more than anywhere on the face. Kysse is designed to move with you, but you will not feel that for about a week. Judge at two weeks, not at day two.

    Hands are their own thing

Lyft in the hands swells noticeably and the swelling lasts longer than on the face, because there is nowhere for it to go. Avoid heavy gripping and lifting for 48 hours, and expect a week before it looks right.

    First 48 hours

No strenuous exercise, alcohol or heat regardless of which gel you had. All three drive swelling and bruising.

    Two weeks

The settled result, and the only fair moment to assess or top up.

    Longevity by gel

Lyft in the cheeks runs to 18 months; Kysse in the lips is usually 6 to 12, because lips never stop moving.

    Is it for you

    Who Restylane suits

Restylane suits most people wanting volume or lip enhancement, and it is particularly strong where the treated area needs to keep moving naturally.

Restylane may suit you if you

    • Want lip enhancement that still moves and feels natural, which is Kysse's strength
    • Have lost volume in the cheeks or mid-face and want structural support
    • Have deeper folds or laugh lines that still need to move with expression
    • Want a treatment that can be dissolved if you dislike the result
    • Are bothered by ageing on the backs of your hands
    • Want a visible result the same day rather than a gradual one

Restylane may not be right if you

    • Have skin laxity rather than volume loss — filler makes that heavier, not younger
    • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
    • Have an active skin infection or inflammation at the treatment site
    • Have a known hyaluronic acid or lidocaine allergy
    • Want a permanent result, since all hyaluronic acid filler is temporary
    • Expect to judge the outcome within the first few days, which is swelling rather than result

We carry Restylane, Juvederm, Sculptra, Radiesse and Skinvive. Your injector will match the product to the area rather than to what we happen to stock.

    Frequently asked

    Restylane questions, answered

How much does Restylane cost at BHRC?

From $700 a syringe for primary areas such as lips, folds and lip lines, and from $900 for structural areas such as cheeks, contour and hands. It is priced by syringe and by area rather than by product name. Most people start with one to two syringes.

What is the difference between NASHA and XpresHAn?

They are two gel technologies within the Restylane range and the difference is how the gel behaves when tissue moves. NASHA gels such as Lyft are firmer and hold their shape, which suits structural work in the cheeks. XpresHAn gels such as Kysse, Defyne and Refyne stretch and spring back, which suits lips and the area around the mouth where rigid filler looks wrong on movement.

Is Restylane Kysse good for lips?

It is one of the most well-regarded lip fillers available, and it is the reason many people ask for Restylane by name. It uses the flexible XpresHAn gel, so lips still move and feel natural rather than looking fine at rest and odd when you smile.

Restylane or Juvederm, which is better?

Neither, universally, and anyone who tells you otherwise is picking a side rather than answering the question. They use different cross-linking technologies with different handling characteristics, and experienced injectors tend to prefer particular products for particular areas across both brands. We carry both, so the recommendation can be about the area rather than about our stock.

    How long does Restylane last?

Between 6 and 18 months depending on the product and the area. Lyft in the cheeks lasts longest, up to 18 months. Lip filler breaks down fastest, often 6 to 12 months, because lips move constantly.

    Can Restylane be dissolved?

Yes. It is hyaluronic acid, so an enzyme called hyaluronidase breaks it down within a day or two. A result you dislike is not something you have to live with, which is a genuine advantage over collagen biostimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse.

Can Restylane be used on hands?

Yes, Lyft specifically. Hands show age early through volume loss and visible tendons, and they are one of the few areas with a filler specifically indicated for them. Most people never think to ask about it.

Why do my lips look too big two days after?

Because that is swelling rather than the result. Lips swell more than anywhere else and the first three to five days are genuinely not representative. Judge at two weeks. This is the most common post-treatment worry and it almost always resolves on its own.
