Clear + Brilliant in West Hollywood — Cost, What It Treats and What It Doesn’t

Clear + Brilliant · West Hollywood

The lowest-downtime laser we run, priced from $375, with an honest account of what it treats — and a clear statement of where the published evidence stops.

Clear + Brilliant laser treatment at Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center
The lowest-energy member of a serious laser family. That is its whole design brief, and it is why it works for the people it works for.
The short answer. Clear + Brilliant at BHRC West Hollywood is $375 for a single session, $1,000 for three and $1,800 for six. It is a non-ablative fractional laser at 1440 nm and 1927 nm, cleared for coagulation of soft tissue and general skin resurfacing. It realistically treats early photoaging, mild texture, enlarged-appearing pores, dullness and mild dyschromia — in a series, because the energy per session is deliberately low. It should not be presented as treating acne scarring, deep wrinkles or laxity. Downtime is genuinely minimal: sunburn-like redness for 12–48 hours and a fine sandpaper texture for three to five days.

1. What it is

Clear + Brilliant is a non-ablative fractional diode laser. It creates a grid of microscopic treatment zones — columns of coagulated dermal tissue — while leaving the tissue between them, and the stratum corneum above them, intact. That undamaged surrounding tissue is a reservoir for rapid re-epithelialisation, which is precisely why downtime is short.

The coagulated material is cleared as microscopic epidermal necrotic debris, which produces the characteristic post-treatment sandpaper texture and slight bronzing that sloughs over a few days. If your skin feels like very fine grit for three days afterwards, that is the treatment working, not going wrong.

2. What it is cleared for

Clear + Brilliant is 510(k)-cleared. The relevant records are K110349 (2011), K120433 (2012) and — for Clear + Brilliant Touch — K223647, cleared 29 December 2022. The cleared indication reads: “indicated for use in dermatological procedures requiring the coagulation of soft tissue and general skin resurfacing procedures.”

Note what that language does and does not say. Like most aesthetic lasers, the clearance is technical — coagulation of soft tissue, general resurfacing. It does not name pore size, tone, glow, melasma or any specific cosmetic outcome. Saying “FDA-cleared for coagulation of soft tissue and general skin resurfacing” is accurate. Saying “FDA-approved to shrink pores” is wrong on both halves.

3. Clear + Brilliant or Fraxel?

Both are non-ablative fractional lasers from the same manufacturer, and both create microscopic treatment zones. The difference is energy, density and depth of the coagulation columns — not mechanism.

Comparison table of Clear and Brilliant versus Fraxel by energy, indication, downtime and session count
These are not competitors. They are two points on the same scale, chosen deliberately.

Clear + Brilliant should not be represented as treating acne scarring, deep wrinkles or significant laxity. It is not powerful enough, and patients with those concerns will be disappointed.

If your concern is atrophic acne scarring, the honest options are deeper resurfacing or RF microneedling, where a 2025 systematic review of sixteen studies and 481 patients reported a mean 62.5% improvement. If it is laxity, that is Ultherapy or an RF device. If it is volume, it is filler. Clear + Brilliant is for the quality of the skin surface itself.

4. Sessions, downtime and honest expectations

Because the energy per session is deliberately low, the result is cumulative across a series. A single session produces a modest change — a few days of glow and slightly better makeup application. Four to six sessions spaced two to four weeks apart is the typical course, followed by maintenance every one to three months.

Most people return to work the next day. The texture phase is noticeable to you and rarely to anyone else.
An honesty note about the evidence. The peer-reviewed clinical literature specific to Clear + Brilliant is thin. We could not verify a randomized controlled trial of it against sham or against Fraxel, and we are not going to quote an efficacy percentage we cannot source. The session counts and downtime ranges above reflect device parameters and consistent clinical practice — they are typical expectations, not published trial results. That is a meaningful distinction, and most pages about this device do not make it.

5. Who it suits, and who it does not

The last item on each side is the one that decides it. This is a series treatment by design.

Contraindications and cautions: active infection or herpes in the treatment area — with prophylaxis advisable if you have a history; recent isotretinoin; recent tanning or sun exposure; pregnancy; a keloid tendency. Melasma deserves a specific caution: the 1927 nm wavelength is used for pigment, but melasma is notoriously relapsing and fractional non-ablative treatment can trigger a flare, so a test spot is warranted. Fitzpatrick IV–VI require conservative settings and post-inflammatory-hyperpigmentation precautions, as with any resurfacing.

Single session $375
3-session series $1,000
6-session series $1,800

Rejuvenation Club members save 20% on every treatment plus priority scheduling. The three- and six-session series are priced below the single-session rate per treatment precisely because this is a cumulative treatment — the series is the protocol, and a single session is a trial.

7. What to do before and after

Preparation and aftercare for a non-ablative fractional laser are simple, and the reasons behind each step are worth knowing.

For two to four weeks before: daily broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, and no deliberate sun or self-tanner. Epidermal melanin absorbs laser energy that was meant for a treatment zone, which raises the risk of a burn and of post-inflammatory pigmentation. If you arrive tanned, a good provider will either drop the settings — making the session less effective — or reschedule you. Both of those are better outcomes than treating tanned skin at full energy.

For three to five days before: stop retinoids, glycolic and salicylic acids, and any exfoliating scrub. Combining actives with a resurfacing treatment does not compound the benefit; it compounds the irritation. Tell us if you have used isotretinoin recently, and if you have a history of cold sores, ask about antiviral prophylaxis — laser treatment is a well-documented trigger for reactivation.

Afterwards: the skin barrier is temporarily compromised, so the job for the first few days is gentle cleansing, bland moisturiser and rigorous sun protection. Do not exfoliate, do not use an acid, and do not pick or scrub the sandpaper texture — it will slough on its own within three to five days. Resume retinoids once the skin feels normal, usually around day five to seven. Avoid heavy sweating, steam rooms and saunas for 48 hours.

The step that decides your result is the sunscreen. Every mitigation protocol in the pigmentation literature is built around photoprotection, and a fractionally resurfaced face in Los Angeles sunlight without SPF is the most reliable way to turn a good treatment into a pigmentation problem. It is also the only part of this entirely within your control.

8. How it fits alongside everything else

Clear + Brilliant is one of the easiest treatments to combine, because it is low-energy and low-downtime. Common sequencing:

  • With neurotoxin and filler — different layers entirely. Laser treats the skin surface; neurotoxin treats movement; filler treats structure. There is no conflict, only scheduling.
  • Alternating with superficial peels across a maintenance year, rather than stacking both in the same window.
  • Before an event — a session four weeks out is comfortable; a session the week of is not, because of the texture phase.
  • Not stacked with another resurfacing modality in the same window, particularly in darker skin, where the cumulative inflammatory insult is what drives pigmentation.

If you are planning around a December event, our aging skin page and the holiday-timing guide on this blog lay out which treatments need three months and which need two weeks.

Questions we get asked

How much does Clear + Brilliant cost?

At BHRC West Hollywood: $375 for a single session, $1,000 for three and $1,800 for six. The series is the protocol — the result is cumulative because the energy per session is deliberately low.

How many sessions do I need?

Typically four to six, spaced two to four weeks apart, then maintenance every one to three months. A single session produces a modest change; it is a good trial and a poor course.

What is the downtime really like?

Redness like a mild sunburn for 12 to 48 hours, then a fine sandpaper texture and slight bronzing for three to five days as the treated micro-zones slough. Most people wear makeup and return to work within 24 hours.

Will it get rid of my acne scars?

No, and we would rather say so than take the booking. Clear + Brilliant is the low-energy end of its laser family and is not powerful enough for atrophic scarring. Deeper resurfacing or RF microneedling is the appropriate conversation.

Is it safe for darker skin?

With conservative settings and PIH precautions, as with any resurfacing. A test spot is sensible, and if you have melasma it is genuinely warranted — fractional non-ablative treatment can trigger a flare even though the 1927 nm wavelength is used for pigment.

Clear + Brilliant or Fraxel?

Depends on the concern and the downtime you can accept. Clear + Brilliant for early photoaging, texture, tone and maintenance with minimal downtime. Fraxel when the concern needs real depth — acne or surgical scars, deeper rhytides, established photodamage — and you can take about a week.
