In short
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) is a prescription botulinum toxin type A made by Revance. The FDA approved it in 2022 to temporarily improve moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in adults, at a dose of 40 units in five injections. It is formulated with a 35 amino acid peptide, called RTP004, in place of the human albumin used in other toxins. In its two main trials, 74% of people reached the success measure at week four, and everyone was followed for at least 24 weeks. Daxxify units are not the same as Botox units. At Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center, Daxxify is offered at our Henderson clinic, sold by the vial and priced at consultation.
Daxxify is daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm, a botulinum toxin type A made by Revance. It works the same way Botox, Dysport and Xeomin do: it blocks the nerve signal to a small muscle, the muscle relaxes, and the skin over it stops creasing. It does not fill lines that are there at rest because of lost volume; that is a filler question.
What sets it apart is the formulation. Daxxify's label describes a 35 amino acid peptide excipient, RTP004, that keeps the toxin from sticking to surfaces and helps it stay stable. Its ingredient list is L-histidine, polysorbate 20, the RTP004 peptide and trehalose, with no human albumin. Botox Cosmetic and Xeomin both list human albumin.
Daxxify's cosmetic approval is specific: moderate to severe glabellar lines, the vertical 11s between the brows, in adults. It is also approved for cervical dystonia, a neck muscle condition, at much higher doses. Treating the forehead, crow's feet or other areas with Daxxify is off-label, which is legal and common in medical practice, and your provider should tell you when an area is off-label.
Units and cost
Daxxify is counted in its own units. The FDA label gives a dose for one area only.
| Area | Daxxify units | Price at BHRC Henderson |
|---|---|---|
| Frown lines (11s), FDA-approved area | 40, as five injections of 8 units | By the vial, at consultation |
| Forehead lines, off-label | Set by your injector | By the vial, at consultation |
| Crow's feet, off-label | Set by your injector | By the vial, at consultation |
The label dose for frown lines is 40 units, repeated no more often than every three months. We do not publish unit ranges for off-label areas because the label does not give them. Daxxify is supplied in 50-unit and 100-unit vials. Source: DAXXIFY prescribing information.

Our West Hollywood, West Los Angeles, Valencia, Westlake Village, Downtown Summerlin, Paradise Valley and Houston clinics offer Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. Henderson is an independently owned BHRC franchise. Daxxify earns points in REVA Revance Rewards; Revance sets the program terms.
Comparison
All four are botulinum toxin type A and relax the same muscles. What differs is the formulation, the units and what each label says about timing.
The FDA label does not give a duration in months for frown lines. What it does say is that in the two main trials every subject was followed for at least 24 weeks, with results charted out to 36 weeks, and that treatment should not be repeated more often than every three months. Botox Cosmetic's label puts its frown-line effect at about three to four months, Dysport's says up to four months and Xeomin's says up to 12 to 16 weeks. Your own result depends on dose, muscle strength and the area treated.
The label does not state an onset time. Revance reports that in clinical trial diaries people saw a measurable improvement within two days, and as early as the next day. For comparison, Botox Cosmetic's label describes effects starting one to two days after injection, and Xeomin's gives a median onset of two to seven days.
The Daxxify label says its units cannot be compared to or converted into units of any other botulinum toxin. The frown-line label dose is 40 units of Daxxify, against 20 units of Botox Cosmetic, 20 of Xeomin and 50 of Dysport. A bigger number does not mean a stronger treatment, and a per-unit price cannot be compared across brands. Compare the cost of the treated area.
Daxxify uses the RTP004 peptide and has no human albumin in its ingredient list. Botox Cosmetic and Xeomin list human albumin; Dysport lists human albumin and lactose. Whether that matters for you is a conversation with your provider, not a reason to rank one brand above another.
Neither is better for everyone. If you are planning around longer gaps between treatments, ask your provider what the trials showed and how your muscles have responded to other toxins. At BHRC, Daxxify is offered at Henderson; Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are offered at every corporate clinic.
Safety
In the frown-line trials the most common reactions were headache (6% vs 2% on placebo), eyelid drooping (2% vs 0%) and facial paresis, including facial asymmetry (1% vs 0%). Injection site reactions occurred in 6% of people on Daxxify and 6% on placebo.
Like every botulinum toxin, Daxxify carries an FDA boxed warning that its effect can spread from the injection area and cause symptoms such as swallowing, speaking or breathing difficulty, hours to weeks after treatment. Seek medical care straight away if that happens.
Daxxify is contraindicated if you are allergic to any botulinum toxin product or to any ingredient in Daxxify, or if there is an infection at the injection site. Tell your provider about neuromuscular conditions, eye or eyelid problems, heart or bleeding problems, past facial surgery, and any other toxin you have had recently.
There are no human data on Daxxify in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Cosmetic treatment is usually postponed until you are done; discuss it with your provider.
In the glabellar-line studies, 2,786 people received up to three treatments over 120 weeks. Antibodies formed in 0.8% (to the toxin) and 1.2% (to the peptide), and no one developed neutralizing antibodies.

How it works
The same three steps as any botulinum toxin.
Your injector places Daxxify into the muscles that crease the skin between the brows: two points in each corrugator muscle and one in the procerus, 8 units each.
Daxxify blocks the release of acetylcholine at the nerve ending, so the muscle receives a weaker signal to contract.
The muscle relaxes and the frown line softens. Movement returns gradually as the nerve endings recover.
Which product
Timing as each product's FDA label or manufacturer states it. Units are not interchangeable.

Good to know
The approved area first, then the off-label uses that come up in consultation.

The only cosmetic area on Daxxify's US label: 40 units in five injections. In the trials 74% of people reached the success measure at week four.
Off-label. The forehead muscle lifts the brows, so it is dosed with care and usually treated with the frown lines.
Off-label. Lines at the outer eyes that show when you smile.
Your injector sets a Daxxify dose for you. The label says units cannot be converted from another toxin, and it should not be given within three months of a previous Daxxify treatment.
Aftercare
A short appointment, and you can go back to your day.

Your provider reviews your health history, any toxin you have had before and how your face moves, then injects with a fine needle.
Avoid rubbing or massaging the area and skip hard exercise until the next day. Your provider gives you exact aftercare.
Small bruises at injection points can happen with any injectable.
Get medical help straight away for any trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing, or new muscle weakness, as the label advises.
Aftercare
Your result lasts longer when what you use at home is doing the same work. This is the routine our providers start most patients on, dispensed through the practice. Not sure it is right for your skin? Take the skin quiz, or ask your provider to build one around the treatment you are having.

BHRC Henderson prices Daxxify at consultation. In Nevada neurotoxin is sold by the full vial, and Daxxify comes in 50-unit and 100-unit vials, so the price depends on the vial your provider recommends.
Daxxify's FDA label does not state a duration in months. In its two main trials every subject was followed for at least 24 weeks, with results charted to 36 weeks, and the label says not to retreat more often than every three months. Ask your provider what to expect for your muscles.
The label does not give an onset time. Revance reports that people in its trials saw a measurable improvement within two days, and some by the next day.
The FDA label dose is 40 units, given as five injections of 8 units. Doses for other areas are set by your injector and are off-label.
No. The label says Daxxify units cannot be compared to or converted into units of any other botulinum toxin. The frown-line label dose is 40 units of Daxxify and 20 units of Botox Cosmetic, so compare the cost of the area, not the unit.
Neither is better for everyone. Both are botulinum toxin type A and work the same way. Daxxify has a peptide formulation without human albumin; Botox Cosmetic has more FDA-approved cosmetic areas. Your provider can explain which suits your goals.
Temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in adults (approved 2022), and cervical dystonia in adults (added in 2023).
Only off-label. Daxxify's US cosmetic approval covers frown lines between the brows. Your provider should tell you when a treatment is off-label.
In the frown-line trials the most common were headache (6%), eyelid drooping (2%) and facial paresis (1%). Like every botulinum toxin, Daxxify has a boxed warning about the effect spreading beyond the injection area.
Not before it is mixed. The label allows unopened vials to be stored at room temperature or in a refrigerator, in the carton. Once reconstituted it must be refrigerated and used within 72 hours.
Yes. Your injector sets a Daxxify dose for you rather than converting your Botox units, and takes your recent treatments into account.
Yes. Daxxify earns points in REVA Revance Rewards, Revance's free points-based loyalty program, which also covers the Teoxane RHA Collection and SkinPen.
