How Much Does CO2 Laser Cost? Fractional CO2 Prices by Area

Laser resurfacing · Cost

CO2 laser prices range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand. Here’s why, with real list prices by area and what you get for the money.

The short answer. National averages run from $1,829 (American Society of Plastic Surgeons, all laser resurfacing) to $3,078 (RealSelf, CO2 specifically), with a reported range of $800 to $10,000. The price depends on depth, area and whether it’s one treatment or a series. At BHRC Henderson, fractionated CO2 is $1,000 for the upper eyelids, $2,500 for the full face and $3,300 for face and neck.

What CO2 laser costs nationally

Two widely cited benchmarks:

  • American Society of Plastic Surgeons: the average cost of laser skin resurfacing is $1,829. ASPS notes that this covers the procedure only, not related costs such as facility fees, anesthesia or prescriptions. The figure also blends all resurfacing types.
  • RealSelf: members report an average CO2 laser cost of $3,078, with a range of $800 to $10,000 (page updated August 2023).

That range is wide because “CO2 laser” covers very different treatments. A light, series-based fractional session and a single deep resurfacing of the full face and neck share a name, but not a price.

Area Paradise Valley West Hollywood
Face $700 $850 (3 for $2,250)
Face + neck $1,000 $1,000 (3 for $2,900)

Why CO2 prices vary so much

Factor How it changes the price
Depth and intensity A deeper resurfacing treatment does more in one session, with more downtime, and costs more per session than lighter settings repeated in a series.
Area Eyelids or the neck alone cost less than a full face, and face + neck + chest costs the most.
One treatment or a series Lighter protocols are often booked as 3 sessions. Compare the total for the plan, not the price of one visit.
Who performs it Medical oversight, a pre-treatment skin assessment and aftercare are part of what you’re paying for.
Add-ons Healing support such as Cell Factor, and prescriptions some patients need before or after, can add to the total.
Compare plans, not visits. One full-face fractionated CO2 at $2,500 and three lighter sessions at $700 to $850 each land in a similar range. The right choice depends on how much change you want and how much downtime you can take.

What you get for the money

CO2 is an ablative laser. According to the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, ablative lasers vaporize the outer layers of skin, while non-ablative lasers heat the skin rather than remove it. That’s why CO2 can make a bigger change in a single treatment. Cleveland Clinic lists acne scars, uneven pigmentation, sun-damaged skin and fine lines or wrinkles among the concerns it treats, and says improvement may last for several years. That durability is part of the value compared with treatments you repeat several times a year.

The trade-off is recovery. The American Academy of Dermatology says to plan on staying home for 5 to 7 days after resurfacing. Cleveland Clinic says treated areas heal in 5 to 21 days, and that redness generally fades over two to three months but can last longer. Factor that time off into the real cost.

Is CO2 right for your skin?

The AAD notes that darker skin is more prone to burns and dark marks after laser treatment, and Cleveland Clinic says darker skin tones carry a greater risk of healing with hyperpigmentation. If that applies to you, your provider may adjust settings or recommend an alternative, such as Morpheus8 or Sofwave, which works below the surface. Pregnancy, active breakouts or infection, and some medications can also affect timing.

Ways to make CO2 more affordable

  • Treat the area that matters most first. Eyelids from $1,000 or the neck from $1,800 cost far less than a full face.
  • Combine areas in one visit. At Henderson, face + neck is $3,300, compared with $4,300 for the face and neck booked separately.
  • Membership pricing: Beauty Bank members at BHRC Henderson save 20%.
  • Schedule in the cooler months, when it’s easier to stay out of the sun while you heal. It won’t lower the price, but it protects your result.
